Customs Broker Responsibilities

Their role is to ensure that shipments are properly and legally moved across border controls by fulfilling all necessary customs procedures. Brokers are responsible for the recording, registration, and storage of goods in accordance with regulatory requirements. They also ensure that goods are presented to customs and other control authorities. Horda Logistics' customs brokers take full responsibility for all actions in the customs clearance process, whether performed by an individual or a corporate employee.
How to Pay Customs Duties and Taxes
Customs duties can be paid via the State Revenue Service's Electronic Declaration System (EDS). This system allows companies or their representatives to make payments directly related to customs declarations. Another payment option is a direct bank transfer to the state account.
EORI number
An EORI number (Economic Operators Registration and Identification number) is a unique identification number required for companies to conduct customs procedures within the European Union. This number allows customs authorities to efficiently identify companies and their representatives during import, export, and transit processes.
To obtain an EORI number, companies must register with the State Revenue Service (VID) or the relevant national authority, depending on the country where they operate. This number must be included in all customs documents to ensure the correct and efficient execution of customs procedures.
A completed and manually signed EORI number application form can be submitted to the VID at Talejas iela 1, Riga, at any customs control point, or by mail to the VID Customs Administration.
An electronically signed EORI application form can be sent via email to the Customs Administration at [email protected] or [email protected], or submitted through the EDS by selecting "Correspondence with VID" and attaching the completed EORI number request form.
